Ontario Power Generation (OPG) generates electricity safely and efficiently – powering millions of homes and thousands of businesses across Ontario, through our 65 Hydroelectric (including 29 green-powered), two Nuclear, and five Thermal generating stations.
OPG generates about 60 per cent of the electricity consumed in Ontario and we recognize that electricity will continue to be vital to the success of our province. That’s why we are refurbishing existing stations and planning to build new generating facilities in the years to come. Of course, the only way to meet this demand is through maintaining a strong organization with the best and brightest people.
We offer rewarding career paths in all areas of our organization, right across the province. Take a moment to familiarize yourself with our business units and the map of our facilities across Ontario.
New Generation Projects
We are committed to engaging our existing staff with exciting new projects across the province. Because existing OPG employees are given first priority in staffing our refurbishment and New Generation Projects, there are no major hiring phases planned as a result of new projects at this time. Most opportunities during the construction phase of projects will rest with the third party vendor that is accountable for new builds or refurbishment of existing plants.
Ontario’s energy expansion program has far-reaching effects across all generating areas of OPG and includes constructing new generating stations, refurbishing existing ones, as well as exploring new electricity resources.
