Internships

A- A A+

Internships provide the opportunity for students to complement their academic background with valuable professional work experience relating to their field of study.

Internships at OPG are typically 12 months in duration and are available to Engineering and Applied Science and Skilled Trades students who have successfully completed at least their first year for Skilled Trades students and at least their third year for Engineering and Applied Science students. For many students, the completion of an Internship may be the final requirement towards graduation.

We encourage you to post an online career profile and to check the job postings on this site, often. Upon completing your profile, you will receive e-mail alerts when newly posted career opportunities match your profile preferences.

When searching for Internship positions, check each job posting carefully for any additional eligibility criteria specific to the position.

How To Qualify For An Internship

To qualify for an OPG Internship position, you must:

  • be attending school full-time;
  • be returning to school full-time, or require the Internship work experience in order to graduate; and
  • meet the eligibility requirements of your campus Internship Program.

Engineering students must be eligible for an Internship through their university, while Skilled Trades students must be eligible for an Internship or a year-long Co-op placement through their college.

Why Consider An Internship At OPG?

Many organizations do not pay Intern students for their work placements. At OPG, we believe in supporting students with paid on-the-job learning.

Here are some compelling reasons to consider an Internship position with OPG:

  • You will gain valuable work experience related to your field of study.
  • You can work on large projects that are relevant to the current business environment.
  • You can get a better sense of what it is like to work at OPG.
  • You can connect with others through our Student Program’s learning initiatives, student social activities and student charity events.
  • OPG sees this as an opportunity to identify potential candidates for regular hire upon graduation.
